A more authentic way to see Italy

Whether in the hills or along the coast, in the mountains or in the valleys, traveling through villages and small towns means seeing the heart of Italy through its unique landscapes, communities, flavors and traditions. Airbnb is working with the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and the National Association of Italian Municipalities to support tourism in small villages. Our Italian Villages project aims to promote areas off the beaten track to travelers from around the world and support local communities outside Italy’s major cities.

Choose your destination

Italy is made up of thousands of small towns shaped by history. To mark the "Anno dei Borghi" (Year of the Villages) we have chosen 20 of the most beautiful villages in Italy, one for each region. Read a bit about them, choose which one you want to start with, and find a door to knock on. Visit the homes of Airbnb hosts and start your journey.
